This is a progress upload I'm putting up so Kilehye can see that I'm not just sitting around at home watching TV. 8P
Actually, I'm very happy with the colors here. I went over a pencil sketch with some lines, then put down coloring-book style color. Later I'll go over it again with Multiply, Burn and Dodge to make it look nice and 3D.
Once I get Kilehye herself finished, I'll make the windowsill around her that she's sitting in, reading comfortably. I think I'm going to do something like a quiet evening light, the colors of sunset will go nicely with the purple sweater.
This is a rough version of course. I've worked on it, but I'm still playing around with Multiply layers (shadows) and blending, but the colors are so bright because I wanted to start with full saturation and dullen it from there. I've found that I can get the best shadows if I use fully saturated colors, Multiply them down with a blurry black airbrush at low flow, and perhaps go over it a few places with the Dodge and Burn tools. There are some astonishingly good tutorials out there, I've learned that there is a lot I have yet to learn!
Thanks for the help, too - I would like to find a better method for shadows, as I know mine isn't perfect. I just can't find a better one...
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
